M.Sc Cyber Forensic

About the course

School of Technology & Applied Sciences, (STAS) Pullarikkunu is running a B.Sc. Cyber Forensic course since 2014, and intake of the course is 30. There is a high demand for this course from the public.  Last year around 300 students applied for the 30 seats.  On seeing the high demand the CPAS has enhanced the intake to 40. Latest survey conducted by the AICTE and other academic bodies, it is predicted that there is high opportunity for the cyber forensics courses for the next ten – fifteen years.  According to the police department, cyber crimes are tremendously increasing due to the high influence of social media and mobile communications.  As such there will be high demand for the employment in this field.

Most of the organizations in cyber forensic prefer Post Graduate qualified candidates.  Unfortunately in Kerala, a few institutions are offering Post Graduate Courses.  Outside Kerala, University of Gujarat, Karunya University, Coimbatore and University of Chennai are the only few institutions that runs the P.G program.  In this context if we start a program in PG that will open a lot of opportunity for students community.  The Cyber Forensics experts have high demand in Government and IT Sectors – domestic and abroad. Successfully pass out students will work as Cyber Security Investigator, Digital Forensic Investigator, Cyber Security Detective, Computer Network Security Officer and any IT related jobs.  For Government employees who are dealing with cyber related cases, certain seats can be ear marked to make them proficient in their investigative skills. And this institution can be treated as a training and consultancy centre for Cyber related Technologies.
